Angelus pastoribus (from Polish)

Here is a Polish Christmas carol translated into Latin, which Aleksandra Klęczar was kind enough to send to me from Poland (she teaches in the Classics Department at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow). In her note, she explains that the translator of most of the carols which she has sent is the famous Polish classicist Ryszard Ganszyniec (1888-1958).

This carol is called Angelus pastoribus in Latin, Anioł pasterzom mówił in Polish.

Angelus pastoribus
dicit:" Natus omnibus
Puer est in Bethlehem Judaeae,
in paupertate natus
Imperator mundi".

Tum edoct(i) ab Angelo
Laeti laeto nuntio
Bethlehem cito properaverunt,
Infantem invenerunt,
Joseph et Mariam.

Magnae gloriae Dominus
Sese subdit omnibus.
Regiam non habuit pretiosam
Ipsi aedificatam,
Omnium Plasmator.

Anioł pasterzom mówił:
Chrystus się wam narodził
w Betlejem, nie bardzo podłym mieście.
Narodził się w ubóstwie
Pan waszego stworzenia.

Chcąc się dowiedzieć tego
poselstwa wesołego,
bieżeli do Betlejem skwapliwie.
Znaleźli dziecię w żłobie,
Maryję z Józefem.

Taki Pan chwały wielkiej,
uniżył się Wysoki,
pałacu kosztownego żadnego
nie miał zbudowanego
Pan waszego stworzenia.
